Your first day

After setup, keep working. drifty records the app, site, and session while you work. By the end of the day, the timeline is ready to review.

  • Activity is stored in three-minute blocks.
  • Idle time is detected from macOS system idle. When you step away, the current segment stops extending.
  • If you chose an AI route, classification can catch up as context becomes available.
  • If the Mac is offline, capture still continues locally. Cloud and OpenRouter classification wait until you are back online. Local AI can classify on the device after the model is ready.

Open the day view. You should see:

  • a live or completed timeline
  • a productivity ring for the day
  • a category breakdown once classification has somewhere to start

The first hours can look sparse. That is expected. drifty needs a normal working stretch, not a demo script.

  • Confirm Accessibility is still enabled.
  • Confirm tracking is running from the sidebar or menu bar.
  • Give classification a few minutes after a cluster of activity, especially on Cloud or OpenRouter.
  • If you skipped account setup, the local timeline still fills. Cloud-only features will not.

When the first day has enough captured time, move to the timeline.
